Cartoon Nail

Cartoon Nail is a safe and pocket sized variant of the classic Russian Roulette trick in which a large upturned nail is hidden under one of three cups before the performer then picks two of the cups to smash with the palm of their hand!

Cartoon Nail follows the same classic routine, but has been updated to be a safe trick suitable for magicians of all ages and skill levels!

The performer shows three blank playing cards along with matching sleeves to put them in.

He hands one of his spectators a marker pen and asks them to draw a picture of a Nail on any of the three cards. Once the Nail has been drawn the three cards are placed inside the card wallets and the performer turns his back so that the spectator can mix the three wallets up, losing the location of the Nail.

The performer turns around and without warning slams down his hand on one of the wallets! It's safe- he reveals the card inside to show its one of the two blank cards!

The performer now takes a moment to focus on the two remaining cards- but can he sense which of the wallets is safe?

After a few moments he slams down his hand onto one of the two remaining wallets- but this time he cries out, pulling back his hand in pain! He's made a mistake and has got the Nail!

The performer places his palm on the last wallet just to check- yep, this one's safe. He reveals the last wallet contains the other blank card and finally shows that the wallet he hurt himself on does indeed contain the card with the Nail drawn on it by the spectator!

Everything can be now examined, there's no secret moves or sleights- you will always know where the Nail card is!

This simple trick comes complete with a dry marker that has an attached eraser so you can get someone to draw the Nail on one of the cards each performance.
