Jokes with a Conscience: How We’re Reducing Plastic Waste at The Scarborough Joke Shop
Share
At The Scarborough Joke Shop, we’re in the business of laughter—but we take our impact on the planet seriously.
As a small seaside shop with a big personality (and even bigger fart noises), we handle a lot of packaging—both incoming from suppliers and outgoing to customers. That’s why we’ve made a commitment to reduce plastic waste wherever we can.
♻️ Bubble Wrap Gets the Last Laugh
We’re proud to say that every piece of bubble wrap we receive gets reused. Instead of throwing it away, we save it and use it again when packing up your orders.
So if your next joke parcel arrives looking like it’s been wrapped in three different types of bubble wrap... that’s because it probably has! We’re keeping it practical and sustainable—without skimping on protection for your prank props and magic tricks.
📦 Reusing What We Receive
It's not just bubble wrap. We reuse cardboard boxes, padded envelopes, paper filler, and other packaging materials from our deliveries. If it can safely hold a joke nose or a can of snakes-in-a-tin, we're using it again.
Not only does this reduce our waste, but it also saves resources, energy, and emissions from creating new packaging.
🧠 Thinking Inside the Box
We're always looking for ways to make our little shop a bit greener. That means:
-
Avoiding unnecessary plastic where possible
-
Choosing items with minimal or recyclable packaging
-
Encouraging our suppliers to do the same
It might not sound glamorous—but it’s a small, real step towards a more responsible joke industry.
😂 Still Funny. Just Greener.
Whether you’re buying itching powder, shocking pens, or a whoopee cushion for nan, rest assured it’s coming in packaging that’s been given a second life.
Because at The Scarborough Joke Shop, the only thing we want to throw away is bad jokes (and even those get recycled occasionally).
